Fun Night in the Emergency Room
SO last night was pretty exciting. Austin went to play night games at his friends and an hour later I get a phone call that I need to come get him because his eyes are swollen. When I got there I found him with his eyes almost swollen shut and the whites were all jelly like and he had welts up his arms and face. Apparently they decided to play in a wheat field and I am assuming my son is allergic to wheat. I gave him an anti-histamine and made him shower but he just kept swelling so we took him to the after hours clinic where they took one look at him and sent us to the emergency room. They were worried about his throat possibly swelling. Thank goodness that never happened but the dr said the next time the reaction could be worse. They hooked him up to an IV and pumped him full of steroids and benadryl and something else. You can't tell how bad it was from these pictures but the one with him in the hospital bed- he can't open his much more than that and the pictures this morning are his eyes fully open. I took these picture after the welts started going down and the meds had Austin all groggy. Chad thinks I am mean but I always carry a camera in my purse and I was alone in a er room- what else am I suppose to do. This morning his eyes are still really swollen and he has to take steroids and benadryl for the next 5 days. Very exciting! We will be visiting an allergist and seeing about getting an epi pen. Good times!
